BrahMos missile in three years
The New Indian Express (December 31, 2007) Print This NewsThe first BrahMos missile will roll out of the BrahMos Aerospace unit here in three years, BrahMos Aerospace managing director and CEO A. Sivathanu Pillai said on Sunday.
On the eve of the formal takeover of Kerala Hi-Tech Industries Ltd (Keltec) by BrahMos Aerospace, Sivathanu Pillai unfurled the future plans of BrahMos Aerospace.
He told reporters here that a new missile integration complex will be ready at the plant in two-anda- half years.
The assembly plant, costing Rs 75 crore, will come up on the land next to the Keltec premises which BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd is acquiring.
“Twenty major Indian companies and seven Russian ones are contributing components for the missile. All the components have to be assembled here in a controlled-environment,” he said. The new management will start operations on January 1. BrahMos Aerospace is planning to increase the current staff strength and also train existing staff in the necessary technology. “The staff already have a strong experience in aerospace sector,” Sivathanu Pillai said.
